Donald C. Emerson, 92, of Burbank, CA, died November 17, 2016.
He was born to the late Claude Edwin and Ida Fowler Emerson, July 29, 1924 in Akron, OH. He attended Catawba College in Salisbury NC from 1947 to 1948 after receiving an honorable discharge from the Army Air Forces in 1946. He was married to Rosella Wilma Walker from 1954 to 1979.
Donald worked at the Charleston Naval Shipyard and retired from Civil Service in 1989. He was a lifetime member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church in North Charleston. He moved from Charleston to California in 2013 to be closer to his youngest son and his wife.
Donald is survived by his two children, Keith Emerson of Harrisonburg, VA and Bob Emerson of Burbank, CA as well as his two sisters, Jean Rast of Huntsville AL and Shirley Phillips of Sharpsburg, GA. He is also survived by two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
