Bill was born July 18, 1928 in Houston, Texas the son of Hugh and Mary (Hagan) Keepers. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. Mr. Keepers was an Electrical Foreman at the Shell Chemical Plant in Deer Park. After his retirement, he and his wife, moved to Caldwell, where he developed a great love for living in the country, raising cattle and his tractor. He also loved to dance and was a member of several dance clubs in Central Texas. Bill greatest joy came when he was surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Keepers was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Frenstat, where he served on the financial committee for several years.
He was preceded in death by his oldest son, William A. “Bill” Keepers, Jr. and a brother, Hugh F. Keepers.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, June Brown Keepers of Bryan; children, Larry Keepers and his wife JoLynn of Dickinson, TX, Christine Carter and her husband Chuck of Pasadena; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Keepers of Katy; brother, Charles E. Keepers of Frelsburg, TX; brother-in-law, Frank E. Brown; 9 grandchildren, Gary Ellison Jr, Greg Ellison, Nick Keepers, Jeremy Keepers, Matthew Keepers, Wesley Keepers, Elizabeth “Beth” Phariss, Robert Keepers, Trey Carter; and 13 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:30 A.M., Monday, April 21, 2014 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Frenstat. The Rosary will be recited at 11:30 and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
