Nathaniel "Sonny" McLennan

Nathaniel “Sonny” McLeannan, 72, of Bryan, passed away January 19, 2018 at CHI St. Joseph Regional Health Care Center in Bryan. A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.

Sonny was born December 28, 1945 in Houston, Texas, the son of Kenneth and Elsie (Preuss) McLennan. He attended and played football at Texas Tech University and was a construction supervisor. Mr. McLennan coached softball for over 20 years for the Centex Avengers and was instrumental in several girls receiving scholarships to various colleges and universities. In his spare time, Sonny loved to cook and competed in an untold number of Bar-B-Que cookoffs.

Survivors include his wife, Lana McLennan; three children, Lannye Slone & her husband, Corey, Kristye Munden & her husband, Chad, and Reed McLennan & his wife, Shannon; nine grandchildren, Taylor Martin & her husband, Wade, Piper Slone, Kylie Slone, Gentrye Munden, Peyton Munden, Aedan McLennan, Liam McLennan, Connor McLennan, and Keely McLennan; two great grandchildren, Trenton Martin, and Scarlett Martin; two sisters, Peggy Camp and Sheryl Chastain; two brothers, Marvin McLennan, and Daniel McLennan.
