Herbert O. Wilson, 85, entered into rest on August 9, 2010 at his residence in Kurten. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 13, 2010 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Interment will follow at Rest-Ever Memorial Park with full Military Honors and Masonic Rites.
Mr. Wilson was born July 14, 1925 in Bryan, the son of Otho and Mae Stevener Wilson. He was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School. He joined the Navy in 1944 and served in the Pacific Theater during WWII. After returning from the war, he enrolled at Texas A&M and was a member of the class of 1950.
Mr. Wilson retired as a District Supervisor and Loan Officer at the US Department of Agriculture; he was a member of Alexander United Methodist Church in Tabor, endowed member of Young County Masonic Lodge A.F & A.M., #485 and an endowed member of Cedar Creek Masonic Lodge A.F & A.M. #300 in Kurten.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Patsy G. Wilson.
Survivors include his sister, Mary Elizabeth (Maisie) Bennett of College Station; niece, Dianne and Dr. Jim Holton of Tyler, TX; nephew, Brad Bennett & Marty of Bend, Oregon; first cousins, Ralph & Judy Stevener of Bryan, Lynn & Katherine Stevener of Rockwall, Texas, and Anton & Irene Stevener of Bryan and numerous other cousins and family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alexander United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
