Glenda Justine Norris (Johnson), 85, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015 after a long illness. Mrs. Norris was born in New Madrid, Missouri, on February 28, 1930. She married Billy Frank Norris on January 4, 1949 in La Forge, Missouri. During their sixty-six year marriage they lived in Missouri, Michigan, and Texas. They settled in Bryan in 1963, where they raised their four sons: Jim and wife Claire, Larry and wife Cathy, Jerry and wife Anja, and Jack and wife Dede.
Justine leaves behind her husband of 66 years, Bill Norris; her sister Joann Grey; her brother Norvel Johnson and wife Barbara; six grandchildren, Bradley and wife Luvia, Dylan, Phoebe, Brittany and wife Lisa, Delaney, and Brandon; and two great-grandchildren, Aaron and Juliana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Glennie Johnson; four brothers, Bill, Solon, Leon, and Carl Johnson; and two sisters Louise Patterson and Dorothy Clark.
Justine was active in the Central Baptist Church in Bryan. After raising her four sons, she worked part-time in various local retail establishments, and helped manage a family business for many years. She also volunteered as a Pink Lady at St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan. She loved to square dance, listen to gospel music, and play cards and dominoes. She was enormously supportive of her family and many close friends all of whom will miss her dearly.
Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Private Graveside Services will be Wednesday at Bryan City Cemetery with John Maurer officiating.
