Elizabeth Been Williamson passed peacefully from this life Friday morning at her home in Bryan, Texas. Memorial services are scheduled for Tuesday, July 2, 2024 in the chapel of Arbor Oaks at Crestview.
Elizabeth was born July 7, 1930 in Greenwood, Arkansas to Cora E. Roberson and Jesse A. Been. She graduated from Lott High School in 1947 and moved to Dallas, Texas where she attended Drummond Business School. On August 14, 1949 she married Thurman Williamson.
The Williamson family moved to Bryan, Texas in 1971and Elizabeth began working for Texas A&M University in the Office of the Dean of Agriculture. She enjoyed the opportunity to work with the faculty and students, many becoming lifelong friends. Elizabeth was happiest when their home was filled with family and friends playing “42” and Liverpool Rummy. Becoming Gigi to her grandchildren and great grandchildren was her greatest joy.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her loving husband, Thurman Williamson, her parents, and two older brothers, Wintzell Been and Ward Been.
She is survived by her daughter, Sue Williamson of Bryan, her son Bryan Williamson and wife Melissa of Bryan, three grandchildren, Matthew Williamson and wife Kyla, Tyler Williamson and Kari Williamson, great grandchildren Beau Williamson, Rhett Williamson and Olivia Williamson; niece Linda Shade, nephew Perry Been and wife Debbie, great niece Connie Six and husband Greg and great nephew Heath Williamson and wife Liz.
The family would like to extend their loving gratitude to Mary Ann Salter, Michelle Sanchez, Lisa Cole, Monica Eusebio and the staff of Hospice Brazos Valley.
