William Dean Thrower (Willie)

William Dean Thrower (Willie), 52, of Brunswick died Monday June 21, 2010 peacefully at his residence. Funeral service will be held at 11 am Thursday June 24, 2010 in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Billy Beasley officiating. Interment will follow the service in Palmetto Cemetery with military honors. Serving pallbearers will be Joe Thrower, Alan Thrower, and Gene Swinson, Jeff Lonidier, Randy Swinson and Mike Swinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Frosty Bearfoot, Marty Harbin, Dr. Moran and Jimmy Adams.

Visitation will be held from 6 pm. until 8 pm. Wednesday June 23, 2010 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick, GA.

Willie was a lifelong native of Brunswick, GA. born September 18, 1957 to the late Hollis Eugene Thrower, Sr. and Frankie M. Durden Thrower. Willie was a 1975 class graduate of Brunswick High School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1976 serving in Rhamstein, Germany and receiving his Honorable Discharge in 1981. Willie was a carpenter by trade and self- employed. He was also a caretaker on Cumberland Island for a number of years.

Willie loved to grow things. He had a vegetable garden for a lot of years and gave away to family and friends more than he kept. He liked to cook and cooked at our family re-union. He loved the Georgia Bulldogs and watched every game he could. The last seven years of Willie’s life he lived to take care of his mother. Willie had no children of his own, but his brothers and sisters children were as his. He loved them and they loved him. Willie will be sadly missed by all of his family, especially his many nieces and nephews. The Lord called you from this life and our hearts went with you.

In addition to Willie’s father he is preceded in death by his brothers Ronald Thrower, Hollis E. Thrower, Jr. and Emmett Thrower.

Survivors include his mother Frankie M. Thrower, a sister Mary Reddell and husband Jim, three brothers Raymond Swinson, Dale Swinson and wife Fe-Fe, and Landon Thrower and wife Margaret, also many nieces and nephews.
