Wendell Edward Harris

Wendell Edward Harris, 69, of Brunswick died Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at his residence. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 6, 2010 in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Ligon and Pastor Mark Baker officiating. Mr. Harris will lie in state one hour prior to service time. Interment will follow in Chapel Park Cemetery with Billy Knox, Virlan Lewis, Mark Laws, Roger Anderson, Wayne Thompson and Ithemas Anderson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the Officers, Directors, and Staff of the Suntrust Bank, Staff of the Hospice of the Golden Isles, and the Staff of Coastal Cardiology.

Mr. Harris was born October 4, 1940 in Baxley, Georgia to Joseph E. Harris and Norma Jean Collins Fordham. Mr. Harris was Vice President with Suntrust Bank and was a graduate of Wayne County High School Class of 1958. He also graduated from Jones Business College, and a 1964 graduate of Banking School at The University of Florida. Mr. Harris had been a resident of Brunswick since 1984, he was a member of the Exchange Club of Brunswick ,and also was a member of the Memorial Baptist Church in Jesup. . He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his father, Joseph E. Harris.

Survivors include his wife Dianne Thompson Harris of Brunswick, GA, two sons, Michael Harris and wife Cathy of Macon and William “Billy” Knox and wife Stacie of Brunswick, two daughters, Lana Lynch and husband Mark of Macon and Jennifer Knox Anderson and husband Roger of Brunswick, his mother, Norma Jean Fordham of Jesup, a brother, Terry Harris and wife Mary Ellen of Marietta, GA, a sister, Patricia Alexander of Jesup, seven grandchildren, Tyler Lynch, Taylor Lynch, Justin Harris, Christopher Harris, Joshua Lloyd Anderson, Hannah Anne Anderson and Parker William Knox, several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends from 6 pm. to 8 pm. Thursday evening, August 5, 2010 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
