Born January 12, 1926 in Dallas, Texas to the late Edgar G. and Ida G. Douglas, Wanda had been a resident of Glynn County since 1962. She worked as a tour and information specialist for the Jekyll Island Welcome Center for a few years and later enjoyed working for the Brunswick and Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce at the Welcome Center at the St Simons Island Causeway, for many years until she retired at the age of 86. She was also a seamstress, and in her younger years, an amateur Flamenco dancer studying under the direction of the well-known dancer, Jose Greco of Spain. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ernst Norman, a son, Bruce Norman, a sister Mary Epling, and a nephew, Douglas Morgan.
Wanda is survived by her son, Eric Norman (Cindy) of Brunswick, her granddaughter, Erica Norman of Smyrna, Georgia, niece Carol (Phil) Cobb of Lawrenceville, Georgia, nephew, James (Debby) Epling of Leesburg, Virginia, nephew Tracy (Tula) Epling of Houston, Texas and nephew Ish Epling of Houston, Texas.
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Golden Isles for the wonderful care and comfort they gave to Wanda, as well as the family, during her stay in such a beautiful and peaceful environment. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles.
