W. Carl Hamilton of Brunswick, known to many as "Doc," passed away at his home on Saturday evening September 16, 2023. A 1954 graduate of Glynn Academy, Carl served overseas in the U.S. Air Force after high school. Upon his return from Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany, Carl met and married the love of his live, the former June Goodwin, and set off to Athens, GA, where he attended pharmacy school and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1965.
Carl served the local community as a pharmacist for over 40 years, operating a number of independent drug stores, including Hamilton's Pharmacy, and continuing in semi-retirement at Rainbow Drug Store.
Growing up in the Golden Isles, he was an avid waterman, and spent many long days on the golf course at the Brunswick Country Club, fishing the tidal creeks near Jekyll Island, and tending to his garden and flowers. A loyal Bulldog fan, he could be found on many Saturday afternoons tuned into Larry Munson on the radio or traveling to an away game with June and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, June; his daughter, Carla Crummer and husband, Jeff; his son, Jeff Hamilton and wife, Tonya; grandchildren Brandon Sellers and wife, Kim; Aree Ogir and wife, Karma; Cody Nancoo and wife, Ansley; Josh Hamilton; Will Hamilton; and Cayla Hamilton; a brother, Johnny Hamilton; and five great-grandchildren.
In keeping with Carl's appreciation for privacy, no services will be held. Edo Miller and Sons is entrusted with assisting the family.
