Tilly was born and raised in Antwerp, Belgium. She was the daughter of the late Cornelius Phillippe and Maria Theresia Antonia Van Der Auwermeulen Refuge. Tilly met her late husband, Ritchie “R.W.” Johnson during the war and lived in Brunswick for 70 years.
Tilly was a Third Order of Mary member for 56 years, choir member and treasurer for many years at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She was on the Catholic Church Ladies Auxiliary, Council of Catholic Women and Knights of Columbus Women Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents and husband she is predeceased by her son-in-law, Del Moody.
She is survived by her three daughters, Mary Jane (Johnny) Johnson Van Der Auwermeulen of Blankenberg, Belgium, Vicky Johnson Moody of Bogart, and Ellen (Mike) Johnson Barret Rowland of Swainsboro; four grandchildren, Valerie Van Der Auwermeulen, of Mechelen, Belgium, Hugh Delton Gowder “DG” Moody II of Atlanta, Denver “Denny” Curtis (Alison) Barrett II of Swainsboro, and Maria Eugenia Moody of Bogart; four great-grandchildren, Bryson Curtis Barrett, Delta Jean Moody, Karsten Symus, and Jitka Symus; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would also like to thank her caregivers, Debbie Miller and Karlie Rowe for their many hours of devoted service.
Visitation will be from 5 – 7 PM Friday; and rosary recited at 7 PM from Edo Miller and Sons.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Saturday, October 21, 2017 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with burial to follow at Brunswick Memorial Park Cemetery.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the Third Order of Mary, Council of Catholic Women, and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.
