Sheila Diane Blakesmith

Mrs. Shelia Diane Blakesmith of Darien, Georgia entered peacefully into Heaven’s Gates at the age of 67. Shelia was born in Dunn, North Carolina the daughter of the late Clarence William Byrd and the late Annie Pearl Naylor Byrd. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Charlotte Ann Byrd. She had been a resident of Darien for the past 35 years.

Shelia was of the Baptist faith and a wonderful homemaker. She always took great pride in taking care of her family and it gave her such joy. She always loved the holidays because it reunited her family for another joyful time and celebration. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She was a good hearted lady with a witty and funny personality. She was also an animal lover and now she has rejoined her canine friend Coco who preceded her in death. Shelia greatest love was her family and she enjoyed time spent with them and her friends. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memories are her devoted husband of 16 years, Roger “Reb” Blakesmith of Darien; one daughter, Teresa Lippman (Timothy) of Hephzibah; three sons, Wayne Hubbard of Hephzibah, Anthony Hubbard of Ohio, and David Matthew Joiner, of Brunswick; her brother, Clarence Ray Byrd (Debbie) of East Dublin. Seven Grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will celebrate Shelia’s life with a service held at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home and will be announced later. The burial will follow the service in the McIntosh Family Cemetery in South New Port, GA.
