Sandra Georgette Pennington was called home to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 71 on Saturday, July 17, 2021. She was at her residence with her loving family when the Lord took her by the hand and they entered through Heaven’s Gates.
Sandra was born in Brunswick, Georgia, the daughter of the late George Elma Hooks and the late Lois Evelyn Hooks, She was also preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Pennington; a daughter, Nancy Pennington; a grandson, Steven Pennington; also two sisters, Wanda Harding and Vickie Hooks.
Sandra was a lifelong resident of Brunswick and a 1968 graduate from Glynn Academy. She retired from Southeast Georgia Health Systems as an Emergency Room Registrar. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a lady of faith and enjoyed studying her Bible. She was an active member of Golden Isles Christian Church. She also enjoyed taking cruises and traveling domestically. She found great pleasure in cooking and baking for others. Sandra was a kind hearted lady that had a caring and giving nature. She will be remembered for her beaming smile that would light up any room. She always loved to spend time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memories are her sons, John Pennington of Brunswick, GA; Steve Pennington of Jacksonville, FL; Gary Pennington (Kristy) of Woodstock, GA, Bobby Pennington (Lisa) of Woodstock, GA, and Jimmy Pennington of Dahlonega, GA; one sister, Kathy Thompson (Buddy) of Brunswick, GA; 18 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren will cherish her memories for years to come. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends between 2 – 3:00 PM Sunday, July 25, 2021 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. The memorial service will begin at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Bro. Grant Wheeler officiating.
