Ronald "Ronnie" James Jenkins, 64, of Brunswick, GA passed away on Tuesday, February 1st, 2022 at Southeast Georgia Health Systems surrounded by family. Ronnie was born on October 30th, 1957 to Olive and Olney Jenkins. He grew up in McIntosh County at the Jenkins General Store in Eulonia, Georgia along with his 7 brothers and a sister. His family attended South Newport Baptist Church. As he got older, he taught the RA youth group. In high school, he enjoyed playing sports (basketball and baseball) and graduated from MCA in 1975. He went on to coach for leisure services for many years while his two children were involved in sports.
Ronnie was known for being a hardworking and honest Christian man who was loyal to the people in his life. He attended Northside Baptist Church faithfully and made sure to never miss a Sunday service unless for work. He was a dedicated employee for Chemtall in Riceboro, GA since 2010 and previously worked at Georgia Pacific Gypsum in Brunswick, GA for 25 years.
Ronnie was such a kind and thoughtful person and you’d know this just by exchanging a few words with him. He was always positive with a smile on his face and enjoyed to meet and speak with people everywhere he went, especially about sports and the latest scores. He enjoyed time spent outdoors and his weekly visits to see his great grandchildren to bring lunch and play with them for hours at a time. Nothing compared to the love and care he had for and consistently showed his family. He was truly a great man who was always doing for others and will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Olney and Olive Howard Jenkins; brothers, Dennis Jenkins and Wadyce Jenkins; and nephew, Jeff Jenkins.
He is survived by his son and daughter, Chris Jenkins of Townsend and Carrie Jenkins of Darien; Sister and brother in-law, Judy and Clark Laroche of Townsend; brothers and sister-in-laws, Bobby and Jackie Jenkins of St. Augustine, FL, Dale Jenkins and Virgil Jenkins of Darien, Lee and Pam Jenkins of Townsend, and Keith and Jodie Jenkins of Crescent; Grandchildren Kevin Cory Ryals, Chelsea Poston, and Cole Thomas; Great Grandchildren, Layton, Calli, Keltsie, Adalee, Kevin Cory Jr, and Buck; several nieces and nephews.
