Ralph Edward (RE) Kempf, 74, beloved husband, father, friend and nephew went to the Arms of his Master Carpenter, Jesus, on Monday the 8th of February, 2016. RE was also a master carpenter and a builder throughout his life. RE graduated from Georgia State University with a B.A. with honors in finance in 1968 and later graduated from GSU in 1971 with a Master’s of Business and Real Estate, also with honors. For many years, he lived with his family in Marietta Georgia where he worked for Lockheed and then was a builder and a home remodeler. He relocated to St. Simons with Sandee in 1999. He was a renaissance man of abundant talents that were received by many in the grace and goodwill that he gave them away to his fellow man. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, St. Simons, where he served as a deacon and was a member of the Love, Joy, and Laughter class. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sandra Kempf; son, Steve Kempf; daughter, Julie Schumaker and her husband Gregg Schumaker; beloved grandchildren, Jessica and Jackson Schumaker; his brothers, Richard Kempf and Robert Kempf and his wife, Virginia Parker; his sisters, Mary Jean Kempf and Marilyn Kempf and her husband, Jonathan Wickham; his aunts Margaret Bode and Virginia McKune and his uncle, Ralph Kempf all from Kentucky. He is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Memorial service will be at First Baptist Church of St. Simon’s on Friday, at 11:00 AM, February 12, 2016 with Dr. Felix Haynes and Dr. Tony Lankford officiating. After the service, the family will have a visitation/reception in the church fellowship hall.
