Phil was born on October 28, 1945 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Wanda Lou (Long) and Levie Keith Woods. He was a former resident of Casper, WY and Stinnett, TX and had been a resident of Brunswick since 1967 when he married Sandee Whitten on May 19, 1967. He was stationed at Glynco and served on the U.S.S. Aircraft Carrier Saratoga at Mayport in Jacksonville, FL. He served in the Navy for 4 years.
He was employed at Hercules, Inc for 39 years and only missed one day of work. He was a member of the Elk’s Lodge #691 in Brunswick and served as Exhalted Ruler. He loved to play softball and was a member of the Golden Isles of Georgia Softball team. He was a member of the American Legion. He was a member of the Arco Baptist Church in Brunswick.
He loved his family, God, Country, friends and lately Blue grass music.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Dawn Michelle Woods.
Survivors are his wife, Sandee W. Woods, a son, Randall Woods, (Carlene), a daughter, Amy Lynn (Kevin, Sr.) and a sister, Tallie Wanzo (Benny) all of Brunswick, 9 grandchildren, Dusty Woods (Deanne), Kevin Lynn, Jr., Allie Woods, Kirby Lynn, Kody Kinstle, Cory Kinstle, Nicole Gates, Summer Lott (Cal) and Tray Wooten, and numerous other family members and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Monday 8/9/10 in the Chapel of the Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Smith and Rev. Larry Copley officiating. Interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery in Brunswick.
Active pallbearers will be: Dusty Woods, Kevin Lynn, Jr., Kirby Lynn Ronnie Kennedy, Cory Kinstle and Kody Kinstle. Honorary pallbearers will be: Dr. Abraham Cheong and Staff, Dr. Timothy Jamieson and Staff, members of the Elk’s Lodge, all former and current employees of Hercules, member of the Arco Baptist Church and members of the Golden Isles of Georgia Softball Team.
The family request contributions to the Arco Baptist Church, 3692 Treville Ave., Brunswick, Ga., 31520. The family will receive friends in the Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM Sunday 8/8/10.
