James Murry Cox, born August 23, 1942, died January 1, 2024. He was born in Brunswick, GA to James and Vivian Cox. Murry worked as a butcher in his families business, Hunter’s Superette, for over 50 years. He loved older gospel and country music and attended Pine Haven Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, a daughter, Kimberly Dawn Cox, sister, Mary Lawana Hunter, and brother in law, Tommy Hunter, preceded him in death.
Murry is survived by his wife, Kathy; two daughters, Rebecca King (Kevin Barry) and Evie Harding; two stepsons Rickey Potter, Jr. (Lauren) and Jeff Potter (Sky); seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two nieces, one nephew and his special fur baby, Dixie.
A celebration of life will be held Friday at 11:00 am at Pine Haven Baptist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will follow in Chapel Park Cemetery.
