Joseph A. Mruk, 82, of St. St. Simons Island, died Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at his residence. A Requiem Mass will be held 10 AM Friday, August 30, 2013 at St. William Catholic Church with Msgr. John Kenneally officiating. Inurnment will follow in The St. William Columbarium.
Born July 26, 1931 in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania to the late Walter and Katherine Z. Mruk, he graduated from The University of Pittsburgh with a BBA. Mr. Mruk was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired regional sales manager for Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation. He had been a resident of St. Simons Island, Georgia for the past 19 years and was a member of St. William Catholic Church. He was also an active member of The Rotary Club of St. Simons Island where he served on The Flag Committee, American Legion, was a Head Usher of St. Williams and member of Men’s Club of St. William Catholic Church. Mr. Mruk was an avid sports fan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters, Blanche Mruk, Gladys Turski, Nell Sabol, Louise Fedorko , and a brother, Walter Mruk.
Survivors include his wife Constance “Connie” C. Mruk of St. Simons Island, three children, Christopher J. Mruk and wife Heather, Marie-Therese Garrett and husband Matthew, and Matthew A. Mruk and wife Lori, all of Atlanta, stepchildren, Dyann Koterba and husband Dan, Maureen McInnis and husband Pat, Carla Flack and husband Wes, all of Atlanta, and James Mazzarelli and wife Shanna of Chicago. Mr. Mruk was known as “Judgie” to 13 grandchildren, Hannah, Zachary, Miranda, Keely, Grace, Henry, Emma, Kendrick, Sean, Lucas, Lilly, Maggie, and Reaghan, and as “Uncle Cookie” to many nieces and nephews, and will be missed by many good friends.
