John Edward Jackson Jr.

John Edward Jackson, Jr., 69, of St. Simons Island, GA passed away Thursday July26, 2012 at Southeast Georgia Health System. A memorial service will be held 10 AM, Monday July 30, 2012 at St. William Catholic Church,2300 Frederica Rd., St. Simons Island, with the pastor Msgr. John Kenneally officiating.

Mr. Jackson was a native of Jersey City, NJ. He was born on January 12, 1943 to the late John Edward Jackson and the late Mary Ellen Raftery, and had been a resident of St. Simons Island for the past six years. He was an Honorable Discharge veteran from the U.S. Marine Corp. He began his career with Delta Air Lines as a ramp agent in Memphis, TN, moved up the corporate ladder to be District Director of Marketing in Fort Lauderdale; FL. Mr. Jackson had also served as VP of Sales/Marketing, Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Director of Sales/Marketing, Savannah Convention and Visitors Bureau. Mr. Jackson was most recently employed as an Independent Agent for Health Markets and Insphere Insurance Solutions.

Mr. Jackson was a member of St. William’s Catholic Church, St. Simons, Island, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister.

He cherished his family, loved to travel-especially cruising, and was an avid golfer. He celebrated his Irish Heritage with gusto.

In addition to Mr. Jackson’s parents he is preceded in death by his sister Joan Jackson

Survived by his wife, Colette, son John E. Jackson, III (Cheryl); Daughter Shari Grantham (Bill); Daughter Shannon Shepherd (Roger); and Grandchildren Chandler and Anna Jane Jackson; Jackson and Laura Grantham.
