Jane Fann Sanders passed away peacefully July 20, 2022 at home. She was born November 2, 1931 in Murfreesboro, TN as the youngest daughter of James Hautie Fann and Grace Overall Fann. She and her husband Paul Sanders met in Chattanooga, TN where she worked for United Airlines and he was he assistant manager of Hotel Patton.
Subsequently they lived in Jackson, MS, Bethesda, MD as well as a few other cities and in 1982 moved to St. Simons Island, GA.
One of her most rewarding employment adventures was working at the White House as an Administrative Assistant to the president working for the Chief Counsel to President Carter. Her job was handling the liaison between the White House and the FBI & CIA. She never missed a day of work in her career there.
When she and Paul moved to St. Simons, she ran the office of their business, The Appraisal Center, until they retired in 2014. Jane was a bridge Silver Life Master, playing often at the St. Simons Island Bridge Center where she was also a donor for the building,
She served as Chairman of Christ Church Tour of Homes, the Historic Courthouse Restoration Commission, and president of the Golden Isles Investment Club. Jane traveled extensively in Europe, Caribbean, South/Central America, and Russia.
Predeceasing Jane were her parents, James and Grace Fann, her two daughters, Ruth Janelle Sanders and Carol Sanders Beatty, her sister, Ellanore “Lady” Fann Norris, her brother, James H. Fann Jr., nephew Paul Sutton and some other friend and relatives. When you live to be 90, you outlive many friends and relatives.
Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Paul H Sanders, her son, Paul H “Sandy” Sanders III of St. Simons, her granddaughter, Crystal Jane Beatty (Fiancé Jimmy Gargiulo) of Coral Springs, FL, her grandson Dr. Paul H Sanders IV (Mallory) of Boston, MA, her grandson Andrew L.Sanders (Ariel) of Augusta, GA, her nieces Deanne Fann Freihube (Matt) of Enterprise, AL, Susie Fann Brown (Jeff) of Murfreesboro, TN, Barbara Scanlon of Los Angeles, CA, Suska Brandon (Steve) of Ben Lomond, CA, Mary Gene Watson of Cedartown, GA and Pat Mitchell of Mobile, AL and great grandchildren David James and Austin Jennings Gadsby and Stella Carol Gargiulo of Coral Springs, FL.
Jane and Paul were members of Christ Church Frederica for over 40 years and her ashes will be interred there in the columbarium in near future. A memorial service will be announced.
