Gloria was born April 1, 1943 in Brunswick, Georgia the daughter of the late Willie Sheppard Boyd and the late Sally Mae Boyd. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Billy Boyd and Donald Boyd.
Gloria was a Cosmetologist for 40 years. She owned her own salon on St. Simons Island, GA where she enjoyed so many ladies and gentlemen who visited her salon weekly for haircuts, shampoos, and styling! There was never a dull moment in the beauty shop! Gloria was often singing, chatting, and dancing while styling hair! Gloria also had a green thumb and could be found walking around her rose bushes, flowers and lemon trees admiring her plants! Lastly, Gloria loved the Lord, her husband, Joe, her children, and her family!
Left to cherish Gloria’s memories are her husband of thirty-four years, Joe Westberry; Gloria’s oldest daughter, Donna Varnell and her husband, Gary Varnell. Gary and Donna’s children are Brandon Varnell, Steven Schaefer, Ashley Schaefer, Amber McClendon and her husband, Tyler McClendon. Tyler and Amber have 2 daughters, Briar and Sawyer McClendon. Gloria’s youngest daughter is Debbie Williamson and her husband, Russell Williamson. Their children are Russell Williamson and his wife, Jamie Williamson; Russell and Debbie’s daughter is McGuire Williamson. Gloria’s sister Brenda Naomi Boyd also survives.
The family will receive friends between 6:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. A funeral service to honor Gloria’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, July 30, 2018 in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Lightsey officiating. The interment will follow the service in Palmetto Cemetery.
Gloria was truly a remarkable lady that will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Her family will have many fond memories to cherish for years to come.
