Born in Atlanta, Georgia on August 5, 1947, he was the son of Frank Harrington Baker, Jr. and Edna McPhail Baker. After graduating from Sidney Lanier High School for Boys in Macon, GA, Frank attended Auburn University where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Graduating in 1969, he remained an avid fan of Auburn football. War Eagle!
Frank served two years in the U. S. Army, primarily in Intelligence Section (G2) of the 18th Airborne Corps. After being honorably discharged, he began a thirty-eight year career at Trust Company Bank Atlanta. He served the last twenty years in International Corporate Banking and was a past president of the British American Business Group. After retiring from SunTrust Robinson Humphrey as a Managing Director, he worked for nine years for the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta as a part-time credit consultant.
Frank was a member of Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in Atlanta and a forty-three year member of Druid Hills Golf Club where he was an avid golfer and a past member of the Board of Directors. After moving to St. Simons Island, GA, he enjoyed golfing at Brunswick Country Club.
Survivors include his wife, Wendy Champion Baker of St. Simons, son, Frank Harrington Baker, IV of Denver CO, daughter, Kensey Baker Amerson (Dylan) of Milledgeville, GA, grandson Sawyer Dylan Amerson, sister Edna McPhail Baker of Dadeville AL and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Lee Matthews Baker.
Plans for a celebration of life will be shared at a later date.
