Edward “Bud” Stephens, 90, of Brunswick, departed this life Sunday, June 16, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born August 17, 1933 in Brunswick, Georgia to Samuel Rufus and Fannie Johnson Stephens, he was life long resident to the city he loved. As a young man, he worked at Blackerby’s Dairy making home milk deliveries. He then worked for Pet Dairy until his retirement, years later working as a millwright.
Mr. Stephens was a member of College Place Methodist Church. He loved golf, was fortunate to have played the old course at St. Andrews, Scotland and one of his proudest achievements were his two hole in ones. He also loved the Georgia Bulldogs and classic Ford cars, especially Thunderbirds. As a young man, he enjoyed drag racing, and his love of cars carried on throughout his life. He enjoyed welding and building things in his shop. His greatest love however, was his family, his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Surviving is his loving wife of 67 years, Nona Olliff Stephens, two daughters; Sabrina Farmer (Bruce) Port Orange, FL, and Samantha Huettner (Kerry) Brunswick; his four grandchildren, Matthew Medlock (Tiffany), Brittany Grau (Jeremy), Westin Huettner (Melina), and Brice Huettner (Lauren); five great grandchildren, Amber and Alex Medlock, Hannah, Eli, and Hayden Grau; brother, Lynch “Doogie” Stephens of Brunswick and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Ernest and Sam Stephens.
Visitation will take place Wednesday evening June 19, 2024 from 6 pm until 8 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Thursday, June 20, 2024 in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Scott Stanfill officiating. Interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery with Matthew Medlock, Westin Huettner, Brice Huettner, Jeremy Grau, Stevie Stephens, and Scott Stephens serving as pallbearers.
