Edward L. Parker

Edward L. Parker, 88, of Brunswick, GA passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at the Hospice of the Golden Isles. A native of Lincolnton, Georgia, Mr. Parker had been a resident of Glynn County for the past 60 years. Mr. Parker was born June 19, 1922 to the late Mr. Edward Riley Parker and the late Sarah Elizabeth Mumford Parker Smith. A veteran of the United States Army, Mr. Parker served as an Antiaircraft Machine Gunner. Mr. Parker was a self-employed contractor. He was also a member of Everett City Baptist Church.

Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his wife Vera Darlene Parker, his parents Edward Parker and Sarah Parker Smith, his three brothers Curtis Smith Jr., Robert “R.D.” Smith and Hugh Max Smith and a sister Adna Smith Mussara.

Survivors include his three daughters Linda Lockhart and husband Richard, Audrey Browning, and Dorothy Brockington and husband Lonnie all of Brunswick, GA; Two sisters Mary Smith of Waynesville, GA and Virginia Bowen of Blackshear, GA; Four brothers Alvin Parker of Brunswick, GA, Harold Parker of Brunswick, GA, Holcomb “Bill” Parker of Bradenton, FL, and Virgil Smith of Brunswick, GA; Eight grandchildren Jennifer Corley , Grover Drawdy, Karen Corley Adams and husband John, Tonya “Sissy” Drawdy, Lonnie Brockington II and wife Holly, Scott Brockington and wife TJ, Emily Lockhart and Bret Lockhart; Three great grandchildren Justin Adams, Logan Adams and Alexis Drawdy and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 18, 2010 from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home in Brunswick, GA.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, November 19, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Charles Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Horsestamp Cemetery in Camden County, Georgia.

Serving as active pallbearers will be John Adams, Lonnie Brockington II, Scott Brockington, Bret Lockhart, Justin Adams, and Logan Adams.
