Debbie was born on Dec. 18, 1957, in Gainesville, Fla., to Edward H. Wiegert Jr. and Barbara D. Wiegert. At only 4 months of age, she and her mother flew to Naples, Italy, joining her father at his Navy duty station. Debbie charmed and delighted the Italian neighbors with her beautiful eyes, sunny blond hair, and ready smile. Shortly after returning to the States, the family welcomed baby sister Rebecca. They then reported to Glynco Naval Air Station for duty. Here, they were joined by No. 3, Leah.
Debbie graduated from Brunswick High School, where she played bassoon in the Pirate Band. After graduation, Debbie attended BJC before transferring to North Georgia Tech for her degree. She later continued her studies at the Santa Fe campus of the University of Florida.
Debbie loved adventure and enjoyed sharing that love with the "next generation" of kids - first fishing trips, exploring for gems in North Georgia, and taking a road trip to Virginia to visit family and historic sites.
One of her favorites were those first trips to Disney World with the "young-in's."
She is preceded in death by her father, Edward Wiegert; her grandparents, Sam and Ayree Dunn, Edward H. Wiegert Sr., and Dorothy Johns; and her uncle's family, Harvey, Dot, Cheryl, and Kurt Wiegert.
Left to honor her memory are her mother, Barbara Wiegert; her sisters, Rebecca Trollinger and Leah (Tony) Antonides; her caregiver niece, Christie Anne Walker (Richie); her favorite nephews, Michael, and Joe Antonides; great-nephew, Mikah Wilson; great-niece, Dallas Walker; and extended family and friends Sharon and Tommy Landrum, Carol Nichols and the Miller family - Carla, Shelly, Kai, Leilani, R. J., Nick, Charlie, and her three surrogate grandchildren, Zane, Brandon, and Kenszli; who lovingly referred to her as "BeeBee."
Debbie requested there be no service but that you take that time with your family and friends.
Well done, Debbie. We love you and will miss you, Gator.
Arrangements were by Hospice of the Golden Isles and Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
