Carolyn Fulmer Stalvey, age 80, of Brunswick, died Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Hospice of the Golden Isles. Carolyn was born in Cedar Crossing, GA to Floyd and Dorothy Baskin Fulmer. She obtained her undergraduate degree from Brewton Parker College and Georgia Southern University and her Master’s degree from the University of Georgia. She moved to Glynn County in 1958 and began teaching drama, speech and developmental reading to her students at Glynn County Junior High until 1968, Glynn Academy from 1969 to 1970 and Brunswick High from 1971 until she retired in 1980. Carolyn enjoyed attending plays and concerts and was a member of Altama Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie R. Stalvey.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Moore of Brunswick; three sons, Ray Stalvey (Carol) of Macon, Rod Stalvey (Missy) of Valdosta and Rex Stalvey (Lisa) of Brunswick; a sister, Rev. Martha Jo Smith of Athens; 7 grandchildren, Grayson Stalvey of Jacksonville, Lisa Vorman of Antwerp, Belgium, Holly Stalvey of Valdosta, Wade Stalvey of Valdosta, Samuel Stalvey of Brunswick, Ben Stalvey of Brunswick and Peyton Cox of Valdosta, and a niece, Rebecca Franklin of Athens.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 11:00 am at Altama Presbyterian Church with Reverend Bert Cramer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
