Carol Kathleen Strickland

Carol Kathleen Strickland, 91, of Brunswick, departed this life Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Vitality Assisted Living on St. Simons Island. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Chaplain Rob Kestler officiating. Interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery with grandsons serving as pallbearers.

Born August 11, 1932, in Morris, Minnesota to the late Arthur and Nita Ellen D. McDowell. She had been a resident of Glynn County since 1951. Mrs. Strickland was a homemaker and attended Lakeside Methodist Church. She also was a former member of Taylors Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher for many years and held several positions and chairmanships. She enjoyed gardening, painting, and camping. She loved being with her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Perry Strickland, Jr., two brothers, Roger McDowell and Gene McDowell, and a sister, Ruth Stanfield Griffin.

Survivors include her children, John D. Strickland and wife Pat, Rose M Cramer, Diane Sellers and husband Charles, and Barbara Bunkley, all of Brunswick, nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
