Arthur "Chip" Cloud Oliver Jr.

On March 29, 1953 a special son, Arthur Cloud Oliver, Jr., was born to A.C. and Evelyn Oliver in Brunswick, GA. Fishing, boating, flying, riding elevators and escalators, and feeding seagulls on the beach in front of his home were just a few of Chip’s favorite activities growing up on St. Simons Island. Chip passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Woodlands Health Care in Midway, GA.

Chip was preceded in death by his parents A.C. and Evelyn Oliver. He is survived by his brother, Charles W. Oliver (Susan); his sister, Betty Oliver (Robert Fischer); nephews Will Oliver and Oliver Seabolt (Ashley), and niece Liz Oliver Okey (Dave), all of St. Simons; nephew Lane Seabolt (Sarah) of Athens, GA, and 6 great nieces and nephews. Cousins Tom Oliver (Anita) and Mary Ann Murphy (Paul), all of Amelia Island, FL; Joel Blackwell of Corte Madera, CA, and Jan Taylor (Mac) of Richmond, VA also survive.

A graveside service will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, May 20th at Christ Church, Frederica, on St. Simons Island with the Rev. Dr. Felix Haynes officiating. Chip will be interred next to his parents and grandparents.

His family would like to thank extended family, friends, and caregivers whose friendship and care enriched Chip’s life.
