Annie Ruth Barrentine, 97, of Brunswick, departed this life Friday, December 30, 2022 at Hospice of The Golden Isles. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 2 pm in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Donald Pittman officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with James Miller, Tony Vercillo, David Garrison, Sr., and Jim Miers, Sr. serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Staff of Hospice of the Golden Isles, Senior Care Nursing Home, Jim and Brenda Miers, Jackie and Hubert Dent, and Dr. Scott Clay.
Born February 25, 1925 in Telfair County, Georgia to the late Herbert and Irene G. Kinnett, she had been a resident of Glynn County for over 65 years. She was the manager of the lunch counter at WT Grant for 15 years, and was the owner and operator of Miss Bees Home Cooking Restaurant. Mrs. Barrentine was a founding member and oldest member of Fellowship Methodist Church. She also served as church secretary, and was a member of Adult Sunday School Class. She also taught Sunday School for primary and juniors and received an award for 52 years of service. She loved to cook and was a volunteer in community service helping people in need, and visiting nursing homes. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Ellis Barrentine, a son, Ellis Barrentine, Jr., six sisters, Christine Hester, Birma Jean Harrell, Ada Young, Millie Burke, Jewel Soloman, and Della Dale, and three brothers, Herbert Kinnett, Jr., Tom Kinnett, and Gerald Kinnett, and a grandson DeWayne Miller.
Survivors include two daughters, Elaine Ryan and husband Raymond of Tucson, AZ, and Gwinnette Sherwood of Brunswick, a daughter in law, Evelyn Barrentine of Brunswick, and two sisters, Lola Carol Spells of Pridgen, GA, and Shirley Kinnett of Moultrie, GA, six, grandchildren, five great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, January 3, 2023 from 6 pm until 8 pm at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of The Golden Isles. www.edomillerandsons.com
