Maria Luisa left us to join our Lord in Heaven on the afternoon of April 1, 2024. In her last weeks of life she was surrounded by her family and loved endlessly. She passed peacefully surrounded by her loved ones at Baylor of Irving. Maria was born in Brownsville, lived in Brownsville the majority of her life, it was there she met the Love of her life Andres Villarreal and where they gave birth to their 5 children. Andres left to his heavenly home in 1980.
Maria leaves behind a legacy of Love for Movies, specifically horror movies, loteria, and butter cookies. Maria will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and sister. Her kindness, quirky sense of humor, and honesty will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Maria is survived by children Andrew Villarreal Jr., Maria Isabel "Bibi" Maldonado, Crispin Villarreal, Belinda Ruan and Juanita Villarreal Hernandez and brother Gumesindo Rivera.
Maria Luisa Villarreal also leaves behind her grandchildren: Alejandra, Andy, Melissa, JJ, Felipe, Andres, Amy, Luis, Emilio, Andres, Joann, Adrian, Roland, Andrew and Norma, great grandchildren: Alize, Natalie, Felicia, Cesar, Sadyie, Sanaya, Cicely, Emilio Jr., Abby, Catalina, Adam, Danielle, Andrew and Nevaeh, great great grandchildren: Catalina, Aimee, Lucas, among others, nephews: Jennifer, Michael and Randy.
Maria was preceded in death by her husband Andres Villarreal, mother Maria Rivera and father Vicente Martinez.
A visitation for Maria will be held Friday, April 12, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Rose Lawn, 4464 Old Port Isabel Rd., Brownsville, TX 78526. A continued visitation will occur Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a chapel service at 10:00 AM at Funeraria Del Angel Rose Lawn. Services conclude after visitation.
