Mary was a dedicated housewife. Her favorite hobbies were gardening her roses and valley lemon trees and lilies of her husband's. She enjoyed sewing many clothes for her daughter and niece in the 1970's. She is well known for her famous Christmas meal and homemade stuffing. The family loved her holiday cookies and homemade lemon meringue pies. She loved spending quiet times with her daughter and granddaughter Ava, playing Monopoly.
Respectfully, Mary died in her daughter's arms.
Maria is survived by her daughter Ana Alicia Alvarado; her granddaughter Ava Sky Gallardo.
Maria was preceded in death by her husband Manuel Alvarado †; her son Alberto Alvarado †; her father Anacleto Chavez † and her mother Maria Luisa S. Chavez †; her sister in law Delia Hernandez †.
A memorial service for Maria will be held Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM with a Chapel service starting at 11:00 AM in Chapel of Peace at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista, 125 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521. Following the memorial service will be a burial of ashes at 12:00 PM at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 Mcdavitt Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78521.
