Felix Sanchez, husband, father, grandfather and great, great grandfather was also a former welder at Marathon LeTourneau, Rio Hondo and Bayview ranch foreman. Felix died unexpectedly, but peacefully in the early morning hours of Monday, July 25, 2022, having just celebrated his 91st birthday on July 12.
He was born in El Carmen, a small Mexican ranch north of Matehuala, San Luis Potosi on July 12, 1931 to Felix Sanchez and Baldomera Celedon.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Ventura Sanchez (1937-2018), daughters Santos and Zeneida, his brother, Otilio Sanchez, and his sister, Zeneida Martinez. He is survived by seven daughters, one son, 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren: Minerva Sanchez (eldest); Armando Sanchez, Nassis, Melissa and her husband Ulysses, and Armando; Graciela Vargas (Natanael Vargas, Deceased), Ezequiel and his wife and daughter, Arissa and Emma, and Rebecca; Elena Sanchez and Maleni; Stella Hesseling, John (H), Stephen, and Layla; Leticia Rodriguez, Gustavo (H), and Jordan; Monica Perez, Gerardo (H), Alexa, and Adrian; Jacqueline Chavez, Luis (H), Alyssa, and Isabella; Aaron Coronado, Felix’s brother, and many nieces and nephews from both sides of the family. He was also blessed to have had three great grandchildren, Alexis, Samantha, and Ulysses Jr. and great-great grandchildren Elise and Isaiah.
A life-long resident of Los Fresnos, TX., Felix, alongside his wife, Ventura Sanchez (deceased), raised their family of eight. Having already lost two little girls, Santos at age 10 and Zeneida at about 10 months, they spent some years living in Rio Hondo and also Bayview before making Los Fresnos their permanent home.
Felix and Ventura both had a very giving and kind nature. They were always willing to open their doors to family and friends, pastors, ministers, or anyone in need. Felix loved being around people – the more the merrier. He loved to laugh and make jokes mostly at his expense. His quick wit and personable character won the hearts of many people. Staff at Fox Hollow, more recently, would comment about “el senor Felix”, and how his quick wit and joking responses and manner brightened their somewhat dismal days. He loved attending the Adult Daycare Centers near him and his friends and staff at La Fe Adult Daycare expressed how they would miss him greatly as well as the cooks in the kitchen of Charlie’s meat market where he would walk the half block to have breakfast until he was unable to do so. Sometimes he would come home boasting of how oftentimes he wouldn’t even have to pay for his breakfast because the friends he had made there would pay for him. He was always being blessed! With this charming personality, one knows that he lived life to the fullest and was always striving to keep negativity from ruining his mood.
Funeraria Del Angel Rose Lawn will be taking care of the arrangements as follows: Wednesday, August 3, 2022 visitation from 1pm-7pm, Christian service from 7pm-9pm. Thursday, August 4, 2022 will be continued visitation from 8am-12pm, Chapel Service at 12pm, Graveside Service following at 1pm.
