Connie was born on August 7, 1960 to parents Efrain Martinez and Paulina Jimenez in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico.
After a stint in the University of Monterey, she returned home and got a job at Garcia’s. It was there that she met her future husband, Mario Agapito Gonzalez, in 1982. They went on to have two children, Mario Agapito Gonzalez and Rhoda Crystal Gonzalez.
She worked in an okra packing company on the outskirts of Brownsville, McDonalds, and the Haggar pant plant near the airport. When the plant closed down, she returned to college for her Nurse Assistant certificate that she didn’t complete in Monterey. After receiving her certificate, she tried the field out for a bit, but ended up applying at the Brownsville Independent School District as a custodian, out of a whim. She got the job and ended up working at Porter High School and Cromack Elementary, until finally settling down in BISD Transportation. It was there that she worked happily for more than 10 years until her diagnosis of Cirrhosis forced her to retire.
Connie loved to spend her remaining years enjoying the company of her grandchildren, Aurora Crystal and Mario Jesus Gonzalez.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, and is survived by her husband, her children, her daughter in law Ana Teresa Reyna, her grandchildren, and her two brothers, Jose Trinidad and Efrain Martinez.
