It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Zenon Slywynskyj at the age of seventy-four. He was the only child of Lubomir and Anna. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Popy; his two daughters, Amanda and Tania; his sons-in-law, Ari and Matt and his three grandsons, Zachary, Tyler and Ryan.
Zenny was known for his easy-going personality and was always up to chat and share a beer with a friend. A regular ‘Mr. Fix-It’, there was never a car problem he couldn’t repair or a home improvement project he wouldn’t tackle. He loved watching (and complaining) about the Habs, but loved watching his grandsons play more. He enjoyed a good movie, educational program and the news. He was in his element in the outdoors and loved to go fishing, a passion he would eventually share and pass on to his grandsons.
His enduring legacy, however, will be the way he loved and was loved by his family. He was a man of few words, but he was always there when you needed him. He was rarely apart from his wife, but if he was, you could always hear him calling for ‘Skippy’. He was quick to help his daughters and sons-in-law and came to their rescue countless times. From chef to mechanic, babysitter to chauffeur and cheerleader, there's nothing he wouldn't do for his family. But most of all, he was the best 'Dziadzio' to his three 'boys' and had incredibly special and adoring relationships with each of his grandsons.
Family and friends are invited to visit at La Maison Darche (7679 Bd Taschereau, Brossard QC J4Y 1A2) on Tuesday, February 27 from 6 PM to 8:30 PM. A short service will be held at the same location on Wednesday, February 28 at 10 AM followed by a burial at La-Nativité-de-la-Très-Sainte-Vierge Cemetery (1050 Chemin de Saint-Jean, La Prairie, QC J5R 4S4).
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Zenny's memory may be made to the Terry Fox Foundation or The Canadian Cancer Society. Please also consider a blood donation to Héma-Québec.
