It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our beloved Christos Angelopoulos. He passed away peacefully in the arms of his adoring wife Panayota (Potoula) and his loving family by his side.
Christos was born on August 4th, 1940, in Tripoli, Greece. He was one of seven children.
In 1960, he married the love of his life Panayota. Six years later, along with their two children, they immigrated to Montreal, Canada. Within a year, Christos and Panayota welcomed their third child.
The unfamiliar and cold country of Canada was challengin at first, but, in time, he adapted and grew to love his newly adopted country and all it had to offer. Christos became an avid fisherman and huntsman, truly loving the outdoors. Gardening was another favorite pastime. His tomato harvest was unrivaled.
Lastly, who can forget his homemade wine? Yes, Christos was a winemaker and very often chosen 1st prize winner at the wine festival he entered.
His family and friendships, however, were his greatest passion. Christos touched many lives with his kindness, devotion, generosity and humour.
He loved his family fiercely and was incredibly proud of his children, his grandchildren and his great grandson.
Christos had one exceptional gift. He made us all feel worthy and special.
Christos leaves behind his wife Panayota; his children Constantine, Dimitra-Mimi (Eric) and Spiro (Tracy); his grandchildren Penelope, Eva and Christina; Catherine and Ariane; Chris and Alexa; and his great grandson Xaak.
In addition, he leaves behind his dear sister Stavroula, many cousins and many nephews and nieces and their children whom he cherished.
A heartfelt thank you to all medical doctors, nurses and orderlies at the Royal Victoria Hospital for their invaluable care and support.
Although his departure leaves us with a huge void, Christos was our beacon of light. His memory will continue to burn brightly in our hearts.
