October 6, 1944 – June 20, 2024
In his beginning, the parents Stanley and Pauline Chorvat started their family in Amherst, Massachusetts with his birth on October 6, 1944. Later, the family, along with his brother Douglas, relocated to Masaryktown, Florida. The family kept with the traditions of the local area with chicken and egg farming, and the Chorvat family grew to include the sisters Vikki and Kelly. The family expanded their business to include Stan’s General Store and Garage. As it was in those days, he grew up as a young man acquiring the nickname “The Bouncer” or “Bounce” for short and helped out with the family business. His hobbies were cars, scuba diving and a special fascination with aviation, like his father, where he earned multiple certifications, including commercial licensing. When he was of age, he joined the US Air Force and served honorably, including a tour in Vietnam. Upon returning home from duty, he felt a calling for public service and served as a school bus-driver and mechanic. Like his father, he became a sheriff’s deputy, continuing into the Florida Highway Patrol, protecting her highways serving all over the state. This was his life for several years until he was asked to come back and maintain the family business with his brother, being a mechanic and tow truck operator for decades. All the while, he continued being a public servant as a firefighter, earning his emergency medical degree as a paramedic with the Masaryktown Volunteers, which the family originally chartered, and is now proudly Hernando County Fire Rescue, Zone 14. Later in life, his hobbies changed to include modeling trains and ministerial work.
With all good things, they must come to an end; he was not alone when he passed away June 20, 2024 as his wife, son and family friend were with him.
Through the years, those that knew him well would say, that he was an avid “do-it yourselfer” with home projects and farming, certainly reminiscent of the phrase “A Jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.”
Enjoy the remembrance of his life with his family with pride.
He is survived by his wife Jacqueline “Jackie” Chorvat; his children, Stanley James Chorvat II, Christopher Paul Chorvat, Louisa Colson, Ginger Golden, along with Michael Franklin , Shelly Yeager, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well.
