Leroy E. Robinson

  Leroy "Lee" E. Robinson, 72, died on August 5, 2019, at the HPH Hospice House in Brooksville, FL.  Lee was born on November 7, 1946 in Wilmington, Delaware, but grew up in Ft. Pierce Florida. Lee and his wife Gail ultimately settled in Brooksville, FL 15 years ago, after living in New York, Michigan and West Palm Beach, FL. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Evon Maslar.  He is survived by his wife, Gail Robinson; daughter, Ashley Defrain (Dan) of Michigan; brother, Charles Ron Volk (Terri) of Florida; sisters, Kathleen McGrath (Patrick) and Mary Jo Gage, both of Michigan; one grandchild, Dylan Knight; brother-in-laws Mark Winterhalter (Judy), Michael Winterhalter (Loretta); sister-in-law Diane Mulder; nieces, Michelle Norris (Anthony), Kyla McGrath, Katherine Gage, Denise Comito, Anna Forrester; nephews, Ronnie Volk (Melissa), James Gage, Maxwell McGrath, Jack McGrath, Joey McGrath, James Winterhalter, David Winterhalter; great nieces, Rylee Volk, Avery Volk, Kali Norris, Taylor Brinkley, Katarina Forrester; great nephews, Maddox Volk, Kaden Norris; his dogs, Sami and Shiloh; and his cat, Bootsie.

Leroy had a wild childhood, and frequently enjoyed telling stories about the mischief he and his brother Ronnie got into as teenagers.  Leroy will be remembered for his amazing sense of humor, quick wit, and uncanny ability to make everyone around him smile. He had a kind soul, open heart, and welcoming personality, always making others feel at home. 

He was unassuming and never wanted to focus on his own accomplishments even though there were many.  Lee was a United States Army veteran who was part of the 1st Infantry Division.  He served in the Vietnam War and was also stationed in Germany and charged with patrolling the border. Not only did he achieve the rank of captain, but he was also specially trained as a psychological operations unit officer.  He received many metals during his years of service including three bronze stars, a national defense service metal, and three commendation metals. After leaving the army, he chose a career in Health Care Management ultimately becoming vice president of a large hospital management corporation.  This path allowed him to travel the country, making lifelong friends. He had a knack for problem solving and managing difficult personalities, for which he earned many awards and accolades during his career. 

 While Lee was a successful business man, his greatest pleasure was spending time with his family including his pets. He loved to spend time outdoors, enjoyed the mountains, and traveling in his fifth wheel.  He also loved the Weeki Wachee River, and spent many a day wading, floating, and kayaking down the river.  He has now gained his angel wings and is likely floating somewhere with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. A Celebration of Life will be from 1-4:00pm, Friday, September 13, 2019 at the VFW Post #10209, 14736 Edward R. Noll Road, Spring Hill, Florida 34609.
