Joseph C. Weeks, Sr.

WEEKS, Joseph C., Sr., 87, of Brooksville, FL passed away August 21, 2014. Joe was born in Brooksville and graduated from Hernando High in 1945. He entered the Navy in 1945 and served in WWII and from there went to the University of Florida, where he graduated with a degree in business in 1951. After college, Joe joined his family business, Weeks Hardware. Since 1916, it is the oldest retail business in Hernando County. Joe and Otella came to work every week Monday thru Saturday until August 1st. Many stories were told in the hardware store. Joe was active in his community, working with the chamber and Jaycees. He was a member of the American Legion for 61 years. Joe was honored as the “Great Brooksvillian” in 2009. Joe was well known and loved in his community. He is survived by his wife of 57 years: Otella; four children: Joe Weeks, Jr. and his wife, Diana; Cile Livengood and husband, Jeff; Connie Petrantoni and her husband David; and Patricia Eppley. Joe also had seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at 11:30am, Monday, August 25, 2014 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.The family asks that donations to HPH Hospice be made in lieu of flowers. Joe will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
