He was born June 21, 1933 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and came to this area 15 years ago from Kentucky. He was an active parishioner of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church and with Hope Anew. He was a United States Army Veteran with the 11th Army Calvary, he was a recipient of the Combat Infantry Medal and was awarded the Purple Heart. As a distinguished Army Veteran, he was a member of Black Horse and the VFW. He lived by the quote “Old Soldiers Never Die, They Just Fade Away.
He is survived by his wife: Marie; sons: Patrick Tinney of Louisville, Kentucky and Danny Tinney of Spring Hill, Florida; daughter: Carol White of Louisville, Kentucky; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm, Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Merritt Funeral Home, Spring Hill Chapel, where a Wake Service will begin at 7:30pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am, Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project.
