He was born April 27, 1936 in Logan, West Virginia and moved to this area over 44 years ago from Ohio. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, was employed by United Brotherhood of Electrical Workers as a lineman for over 20 years and was the former owner of Gulf Station in Brooksville, Florida and Cheveron Station in Dade City, Florida. He was a member of Gulf Ridge Park Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Clyde & Bessie Peyton; brothers: James Peyton and Earl Peyton; sisters: Juanita White, Orletta Brooks, Vendetta Cox and Anita Peyton. He is survived by his wife of 60 years: Molly M. Peyton; sons and daughters-in-law: Charles E., Jr. & Charlene Peyton of Brooksville, Florida and Timothy M. & Robin Peyton of Georgia; daughter and son-in-law: Susan M. & James Bearden of Panama City, Florida; brothers and sisters-in-law: William B. & Karen Peyton, Larry & Geneva Peyton, Anthony & Sheila Peyton, Clyde, Jr. & Mich Peyton; sisters and brothers-in-law: Niwanna & Jimmy Pippin, Margaret & Frank Meyers, Pearl & Duane Muecke; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
A Visitation for family and friends will be held at 12:30pm-1:00pm, Monday, February 19, 2018 at Merritt Funeral Home, Brooksville Chapel, where Funeral Services will begin at 1:00pm, with Reverend Dr. Michael L. Pope officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Lake Cemetery.
