Amy Carolyn Torres

Born October 25, 1961 in Burlington, Ontario, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Warren R. & Reva (Cooper) Nellis.  She graduated high school in Northern Virginia in 1980 and went on to earn her master's degree.  She came to Brooksville 15 years ago, was a very dedicated teacher for Hernando County Schools, enjoyed quilting, reading, nature walks and was an avid Gator fan.  Amy had a great love of the Lord and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Brooksville.

She is survived by her husband, Kevin; her daughter, Sophia; sister and brother-in-law, Betsy & Eric Sweigard of Hacks Neck, Virginia; mother-in-law, Eileen Trongono of The Villages, Florida.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 12:00pm, Saturday, February 22, 2020 at First United Methodist Church of Brooksville.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Operation Christmas Child, Compassion International, American Cancer Society, Heifer International, or FUMC Homeless College Students.
