She is survived by her five children: Ferida Khan, Nazmoon Sigillo, Nazrudeen Khan, Wazida Khan and
Nazeer Khan; her grandchildren: Anthony Stuckey, Fernand Ferracane, Antonio Sigillo, Justin Lopez,
Marcello Sigillo, Naseem Khan, Nadira Khan and Nazeer Khan Jr.; her great grandchildren: Sophia Lopez,and Alisa Stuckey, her great great granddaughter Aliyah, her son in law, Franco Sigillo; her daughter in law, Shirley Khan; son in law, John Keane; daughter in law, Carol Peterson, and her two siblings Violet Paul and Henry Woods.
Merley is preceded in death by her mother, Batchia, father, Herbert Woods and siblings, Sonny, John,
Berry, Herbert, and her twin sister Shirley.
Merley was born in Hindustan, Trinidad. She migrated to United States in 1971 with her husband,
RamJohn and their three children, Ferida, Nazmoon and Nazrudeen. Merley was a homemaker who
raised her 5 children in Park Slope, Brooklyn. She and her husband, RamJohn bought their first home, a
three- family townhouse in Park Slope, Brooklyn in 1973. In addition, to a commercial property, John’s
Auto Collision, an auto body shop.
Merley will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and
friend. She was an amazing Trinidadian cook, and the best roti maker. Her doors were always open to
everyone and was always filled with food and drinks. She loved the holidays with Christmas being her
favorite and looked forward to decorating her home and putting up the Christmas tree. She was an
amazing host and is known for always playing East Indian music and watching Bollywood films. She
loved playing the lotto and betting on horses and was lucky with both. She loved flowers and enjoyed
gardening. She had a great friendship with the Roopchands throughout her years residing in Park Slope.
She was loved by many and will always be remembered for enjoying life and wanting those around her
to be happy and to enjoy themselves. Merley was truly a family oriented person, she housed many
relatives who needed a place to stay and will always be remembered for her kindness.
The Khan family would like to thank everyone for their condolences and prayers for our family during
this time. Merley’s memory would live on in all those who loved and knew her. She will be missed
dearly; may she forever rest in peace!

A visitation for Merley will be held Tuesday, July 11, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM at Joseph G. Duffy, 255 Ninth Street, Brooklyn, NY 11215. Following the visitation will be an entombment at 3:00 PM at Green-Wood Cemetery, 500 25th St, Brooklyn, NY 11232.
