Eddie served his country with honor as a Sargeant in the US Army during The Vietnam War. before joining the New York Fire Department in 1977, where he dedicated over 20 years of his life. He was a proud member of Ladder 101 but spent most of his career with Ladder 131.
Eddie was a beloved member of the community, known for his active participation in the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, often making it as far as McSorley’s. His Irish heritage was a source of great pride, and he was an active member of the Royal Hibernian Society. A highlight of his life was visiting Ireland and connecting with relatives there.
After retiring due to a heart attack suffered on duty, Eddie continued to serve his community through volunteer work. On 9/11, although retired, he selflessly assisted in recovery efforts, helping to bring closure to the families of victims. He also participated in Tunnel to Towers Foundation events, which was an organization that was dear to him.
An avid outdoorsman, Eddie cherished his fishing and hunting trips with his close friend and cousin, Kenny Lorme. Every vacation was spent with Kenny and friends enjoying the outdoors.
He was predeceased by his beloved 1982 Mustang Convertible, a symbol of his adventurous spirit.
Eddie leaves behind his sister Maureen Lorme, his niece and goddaughter Karen Bakowski, his nephew Mikey Bakowski, his first cousin Kenny, and numerous other relatives. He also will be missed by his dearest friend Christine Rose Pollice and her family, whom he spent many a holiday with. He also leaves behind his firefighter brothers from Ladder 131 and his good friends at Farrell’s.
Eddie’s legacy of bravery, dedication, and love for life will be remembered by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.

A visitation for Edward will be held Sunday, July 21, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at M.J. Smith Sons, 255 Ninth Street, Brooklyn, NY 11215. A mass of christian burial will occur Monday, July 22, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 245 Prospect Park W, New York, NY 11215. A committal will occur Monday, July 22, 2024 at 1:30 PM at Calverton National Cemetery, Wading River, Wading River, NY 11792.
