He later joined the Bloomberg Administration and served 13 years as Deputy Commissioner/General Counsel to the Commission on Human Rights.
His love of both land and sea inspired him to volunteer and serve as a Lieutenant with the NYPD Auxiliary Harbor Patrol and, for over the past decade, as a Scout leader with the Boy Scouts of America. Cliff made a deep and lasting impact on the lives of so many youths in Brooklyn, leading hikes, patiently teaching life skills like first aid, knots and orienteering, and especially demonstrating his beloved hobby of fishing. To the Scouts, “Mr. Cliff" was a fun-loving, playful kid at heart who led unforgettable adventures and experiences like downhill skiing, riding rollercoasters at Hershey Park and even camping in the snow. His quiet, gentle manner exemplified the very best of service and leadership — always the first to make the camp coffee at 6AM, always the first to raise a hand to volunteer for community service.
Ever the animal-lover, the family requests donations in Cliff’s memory can be made to Sean Casey Animal Rescue (SCAR).

So, raise a glass, say a prayer and give thanks to a very good man, a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a leader and a friend...to a short life well lived...and, to a smile that will live in our hearts forever. Remember to always tell someone how much they mean to you, to recognize the value of the person — and do it while you have the chance.
