Ann Elizabeth (Goldman) Henkle, age 67 of Brooklyn, New York, passed away on July 7, 2022 in Brooklyn, NY. Ann is survived by her husband Mel (Robert); her son Scott; her sisters Robin and Sheila; her nieces Wendy London, Emily London and Taylor Lichtle and nephew Zachary Atlas; her mother-in-law Mary Ann (Boynton) Henkle; her sisters-in-law Casey Henkle and Nancy Lichtle plus her extended family who he loved dearly. Ann is predeceased by her elder son Gary, her parents Gary and Honey Goldman, and her father-in-law Robert Henkle.
Ann liked staying in. She was happiest when enjoying her favorite game shows and classic sitcoms on television. Outside the home while she was still able, Ann loved singing with the Dyker Singers and attending activities at the Council Center for Senior Citizens in Brooklyn.
Ann graduated from Benjamin Cardozo High School in Queens in 1973 and would go on to earn degrees from Queens College and Pratt Institute. In 1983, Ann began her career as a children’s librarian with Brooklyn Public Library, where she would meet her husband of 36 years while at the Spring Creek branch. Ann was well traveled through the BPL’s neighborhood branches, including stops at Borough Park, Brighton Beach and McKinley Park where she spent the bulk of her career. Ann retired from BPL in 2012.
Services will be held at Nevsky Yablokoff Memorial Chapels at 11:45 AM on Monday, July 11th with burial to follow at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, N.J. Shiva will be held at the London family residence following burial until 8:30 PM on Monday July 11 and from 1PM to 5PM and 7:30PM to 9PM on Tuesday July 12 and Wednesday July 13.
