Chris was born on October 23, 1973 in Englewood, NJ, and passed away on April 21, 2024. He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony A. Alfieri. Chris is survived by his wife Danielle, his son Zachary Alfieri, his mother Diane Alfieri, sister Lisa Sellick, brother-in-law Edward Sellick and his nephew Eddie Sellick.
Chris grew up in Englewood and Dumont, NJ. Throughout his childhood and adult years, Chris was very close to his family. They were always doing fun activities together, like family trips to Cape Cod, visiting Cooperstown, or going to the Museum of Natural History. They loved watching movies and having pizza Fridays and Chinese food Saturdays. Chris and his sister Lisa had a strong bond, always making time for each other. His father, Anthony, brought the love of the Yankees into the household and made Chris a forever huge Yankee fan. Joe DiMaggio was his favorite player of all-time, and he also loved Don Mattingly and Derek Jeter.
Chris excelled in every academic subject in school. He could hear a song and quickly figure out how to play it on a piano. He wrote his first computer program at the age of seven. His parents bought him his first computer and a book called Basic when he was 7. With all of the programming Chris was doing, the computer quickly lost store space and he had to get another computer. Chris graduated as the Valedictorian of Dumont High School in 1991. He went to Rutgers University from 1991 until 1995, where he earned a degree in Computer Science, with a minor in Economics.
Chris started his career in Network Engineering at AT&T and then Lehman Brothers. In 2005, he started working at the Federal Reserve Bank of NY, where he pivoted his career to focus on writing for their internal communications department. Wherever Chris worked, he made lasting friendships.
Chris met his wife Danielle (Dani) and was married for 17 years, and had his son, Zach in 2012.They raised their family in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Chris devoted and prioritized his family over everything else. When his wife tore her ACL, he selflessly helped her get through every day and joined her for all of her doctor appointments. They enjoyed traveling. Some of their favorite vacations were in Mexico, Disney World, Newport, RI and Montauk, LI. Chris showed his son love everyday. He handled everything with Zach in regards to school, from dropoff to pick up to after-school activities and homework time. He was a supportive father, who loved playing chess, going to Yankees games, cooking, playing Wordblitz, and talking history with his son for hours. While Chris' favorite food was broccoli, he also loved going to restaurants like Dinosaur BBQ, Frankies Spuntino, and trying the newest trending restaurants on Instagram.
Chris never turned down going to a party or celebrating a holiday. He loved Christmas at his father-in-law and step-mother-in-law’s and Roshashana with his mother-in-law’s. He grew very close to all of his in-laws (nephew, niece, aunts, uncles and cousins.)
Outside of work, Chris had a strong love of music, specifically Punk Rock and Garage bands. He would go to shows as often as he could with his wife and many friends - from Rush to the Ramones to the Stooges. He also went to many Yankee games with his friends. Chris was also very giving, in fact, for a number of years volunteered to buy Christmas gifts for a child in need, making sure to get what was on their Christmas wish list. In general, Chris always had a way of making people feel special. He could join in just about any conversation across several subjects and always felt very approachable. If Chris was your friend, you knew you had someone in your corner, someone you could trust, someone you could lean on, someone who would be there when things were rough or when you just wanted to have a good time.
Chris was the kind of guy who always did the right thing - he was the kindest, gentlest, most humble person you might ever meet with a heart of gold. He will forever be missed by family and friends and his memory will last forever.
