Sonia Abrams was 102 when she died on Tuesday, March 15 in her home at Newbridge on the Charles in Dedham. She was born in Brookline, Mass. to Abram and Mabel Salter and was sister to Helen Salter Kahn.
She attended Wellesley College and received her Master’s degree in Social Work at Simmons College.
In 1945 she married Herbert Abrams MD and moved to Lowell Mass. Where they lived until his death in 1980. Sonia worked as a social worker at Boston Children’s Services and Beth Israel hospital until she retired in1987.
She was an avid world traveler, a lover of lifelong learning, an enthusiastic reader, gardener, cook and a loyal friend to many.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Alice Abrams of Lexington, her grandchildren, Ben of Somerville and Sonya of San Francisco, and five great grandchildren.
She was interred at Temple Israel Memorial Cemetery on Friday.
