Sivan Ruth Ehrlich (nee Alpert) of Winchester died suddenly on July 22 at age 51. She was the wife and soulmate of Scott Rand Ehrlich of Winchester, daughter of Bonnie Alpert of Winchester and Joel Alpert of Woburn, step-daughter of Nathan Rome and Nancy Lefkowitz, sister of Adina Alpert of Somerville, daughter-in-law of Margery Ehrlich of Brookline and the late Robert Ehrlich, sister-in-law of Alison Eskenas (Harvey) and aunt of Brian Eskenas.
Sivan was born in Israel to American parents in 1973, just prior to the outbreak of the Yom Kippur War. Her family lived in Karmiel in northern Israel, where sirens went off daily for weeks. So, she spent her first few weeks in and out of the community air raid shelter.
Sivan moved with her parents to the United States in 1974, living briefly in Pennsylvania and then in Lexington, MA. She attended Lexington schools, graduating from Lexington High School in 1991. She was a 1995 graduate of the University of Rhode Island, majoring in psychology.
Sivan worked for over 20 years at Harvard Medical School’s Office of Research Administration, most recently as Contracts Coordinator, connecting outside medical researchers with Harvard grants.
Sivan and Scott were married for 21 years. They kept in touch during the day, did activities together, and loved their two cats, Lex and Brooke, named after the two towns, where Sivan and Scott grew up. Family and friends loved Sivan’s smile, her sweetness and warmth, and her loving and caring nature.
The graveside funeral will be private. Shiva will be held at Temple Shir Tikvah, Winchester.
