Shelley Schribman, 80, of Somerville, MA, formerly of Teaneck, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on November 7th. She was the adored wife of the late Marshall Schribman, daughter of the late George Shulman & Mildred Shulman and survived by her siblings: Herbert Shulman, Karen Moheban and Joy Earls, her fiancé Jack Simon, as well as many cousins and loving nieces and nephews.
Shelley worked for many years as a systems engineer for Massachusetts Department of Public Health and loved the challenge and camaraderie that her work provided. She earned a BFA from the Art Institute of Chicago with talents that she used wherever life led her in the theater, computer lab, or at the dinner table. She took pride in her physical fitness, often kickboxing (and winning!) against people half her age. Many people wondered how she stayed so fit, even as she neared 80 years old – those close to her knew her secret to health and resilience was her humor and brash frankness. She took life head-on with a pugnacious zeal that would first get under your skin, then into your heart.
She was an unstoppable force everywhere she went – whether camping with her sister in Western Montana, or on the beaches of Aruba, not a person met her that wouldn’t remember her for years to come. She volunteered with ORT and League of Women Voters, and was an active member of Chabad.
A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Sunday, November 10 at Levine Chapels Funeral Home, 470 Harvard Street, Brookline. Visitor Reception will be held at her late residence immediately following the services, and on Monday, November 11th from 7 - 9 pm, and Tuesday November 12th from 7 - 9 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chabad Center of Natick at www.chabadnatick.com/donate or to a charity of your choice.
