Judith Brown (Singer) Caro, age 90, of Newton, MA and most recently of Wingate in Needham, died from stroke April 14, 2025.
Judy was born in Newton on September 19, 1934. She attended Newton High School and both Cedar Crest College and the Rhode Island School of Design. She was a creator of great beauty and in demand as a gifted interior designer in her own business for many years. She also became a prolific painter of abstract landscapes and interiors, and her use of color in both realms was exquisite and unique.
Judy was married to Richard Lawrence Brown, the father of her children and her husband until his death in 1980, and later to Harold G. Caro who also predeceased her. Judy had 3 children; her daughter, Lisa Claudia Briggs and her sons, Adam Singer Brown and Samuel Singer Brown, who died in 2012. She was loved by her grandchildren; Luke Blauch, Nicholas Blauch, Amanda Brown, Austin Brown, Max Brown and Leo Brown with whom she had rich and devoted relationships. She also got to meet her first great granddaughter; Celeste Blauch last summer. She dearly loved her three stepsons; Robert Caro, Roger Caro, and Peter Caro. She is also survived by her loving partner Harry Cohen who lit up her life in every way during their romance and talked often about how lucky they were to have each other.
Judy touched many lives through years of charity work, an active social life and loving friendships, and her curious active mind. Everything was a canvas for her creative passion… every outfit, every dinner party, every room she designed, and every painting she shared. A quote from Elsie de Wolfe that so beautifully described her way of living could be “I am going to make everything around me beautiful… That will be my life”. She lived as an artist in every way and shared her love of color and aesthetics with all that loved her through her paintings and passion for design. She was loved by so many and will be deeply missed.
A graveside service and burial will be held at the Mishkan Tefila Memorial Park, 2609 Center Street, West Roxbury on Thursday April 17 at 1pm.
The family will receive visitors afterwards at Judy’s home at Wingate at 235 Gould St. Needham.
In lieu of flowers, remembrance may be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org or a charity of your choice.
